Thesis figures need consistency across many chapters. The challenge is not one beautiful figure. The challenge is a repeatable workflow for every mechanism, method, and result panel.
Build a figure inventory
List each chapter and mark which figures are conceptual, experimental, analytical, or summary figures. This prevents last-minute visual gaps before submission.
Standardize early
Choose one label style, one palette family, and one export size. Reuse them across diagrams so the thesis reads as one coherent document.
Keep exports editable
Use PNG for drafts, but keep SVG or PPTX for final correction. You will almost always need to adjust labels, arrows, and panel spacing after supervisor feedback.
